How TheSkinCare.Report scores products
The public score answers how a product performs overall. The personalized score answers how it fits you. See also Editorial Standards.
The five ExplainScore dimensions
How well a product's claims and formulation support the protection it advertises (e.g. SPF level, broad-spectrum coverage, water resistance).
Fragrance, alcohol, and essential-oil content, plus known irritant profiles — weighted higher for users with sensitive or reactive skin.
Finish, white-cast risk, and how the formulation feels and wears day to day.
Price relative to comparable products in the same category — the only dimension that reads price data.
The clinical evidence grade backing the product's key active ingredients and claims.
Public score vs. personalized score
Public ExplainScore
Stable and general — the five dimensions weighted evenly, the same for every visitor.
